Dr. Macayla
Sullivan knows she should take the three week vacation she has coming,
but
being a workaholic, Macayla wonders if she will be able to find enough
to
do. When she leaves the hospital on the
last night before her vacation, Macayla finds Jared Romero in the
backseat of
her vehicle with a gunshot wound.
Against her better judgment, Macayla takes Jared
home to attend to his
wounds there, after he pleads with her about drawing the wrong
attention to
him. Suddenly, three weeks off doesn’t
seem so boring to her when she finds herself on the run with Jared, the
last
man on earth she wants to be alone with.
Macayla met Jared when he broke into her house when
her best friend, Samara,
and his, Connor, were on the run together and Jared was passing Macayla
messages from them. From that first
meeting Macayla lost her head and she and Jared shared a passionate
embrace. Since then, Macayla has dreaded,
yet yearned
to see Jared again. As she and Jared run
for their lives and stay alone in a safe house, can she resist the urge
to
succumb to this one man who could change her life forever?
Jared
Romero, a government operative and a computer whiz, landed himself in a
whole
lot of trouble this time. When he is
shot, he doesn’t want to draw attention to himself by going to a
hospital for
medical attention, so he chooses to go to the one woman he shouldn’t
involve,
yet he knows she is trustworthy. For
months, Jared has thought of Dr. Macayla Sullivan day and night, but
with his
job, he isn’t exactly relationship material.
But being chased by those intent on keeping him from
testifying in a
high-profile case, he needs Macayla and the time to heal from his wound. But hiding from those intent on shutting him
up, and alone with Macayla 24/7, is a blessing and a curse. The more time he is with Macayla, the more he
wants her and the harder he pushes, the more she retreats.
Will Jared
and Macayla survive three weeks in seclusion from the rest of the world? Will the enemy be brought to justice before
it’s too late? Will Macayla give into
Jared and realize the only medicine he really needs is … her!
One thing
that plays over and over in my mind after reading, and even during the
reading
of Take Your Medicine, and the
passion between Jared and Macayla, is the song, “Bad
Medicine”….but in a good way! (the whole Dr./medicine analogy)
“Bad
medicine” for Macayla and Jared is each other.
Their passion is undeniable and while they wish
their hearts were
unattainable, they surrender to each other.
It was wonderful to read these characters again,
after meeting them in Surprise.
Macayla and Jared are both very
strong-willed, independent people who really care.
Macayla is totally awesome; she and Jared had
no ulterior motives, no lies or betrayals to deal with later. That is one factor that I like about author,
Arianna Hart. She writes honest,
in-depth and inspiring characters that really bring freshness to our
reading.
The danger
surrounding Jared and Macayla, as well as the characters they meet
while they
are hiding, really entertain and keep the reader riveted to the story. Take
Your Medicine is fast-paced, sensual, suspenseful and a must
read. Jared and Macayla’s adventure is
every bit as
wonderful as I hoped it would be after reading Surprise. From start
to finish this story is engaging, profound and Arianna Hart leaves
nothing out
and never leads us astray. This is a new
author on the move in the romantic suspense genre.
