STARS SHINE AFTER DARK by Paula Hrbacek

STARS SHINE AFTER DARK is set in modern day Los Angeles, California. Readers will enjoy touring the places the stars go inside the pages of this book.

Mona Poole was a famous child actress. Now twenty years old, she wants to go to college and do the things that normal people do. She’s not sure what career she wants to go into, just that she wants to be normal. But life can’t be normal for Mona. Instantly recognized, the paparazzi follow her around campus. When her parents announce they are buying a Winnebago and traveling around the country, Mona feels alone and abandoned by those she loves and trusts most.

Timothy Scott is a senior and star quarterback. Majoring in football, his dreams are to go pro and when the day comes that he has to retire from football, he’ll coach. He has no minor, no other plans for life. Seeing Mona in the stands during a home game, Tim decides he has to meet her. A mutual friend introduces them, and from that day on Tim and Mona is inseparable.

Even though Mona claims Tim is only her friend, it doesn’t stop her from accepting when Tim proposes. Only two months later, Tim and Mona are married in a ceremony hidden from the media. But is wedded bliss all that it’s cut out to be? Will Mona be content to follow Tim wherever he’s drafted? Or will Tim be the one to give up his dreams?

STARS SHINE AFTER DARK is a unique story. I don’t think I’ve read anything quite like it before. There were a lot of punctuation errors in the download I read, but they might have been corrected in the print version.

Most of the story is written after Mona and Tim are married, there is very little of their actual courtship in the book, and the book tends to skip around, telling something very important to the story and then skipping ahead three years down the road and telling what happened in back-story.

I would have actually preferred her to tell the story as it happened, not long after the fact.

There are some exciting moments in STARS SHINE AFTER DARK. There are also some mild after-married sex scenes. If you are interested in what the life of movie stars is like, or want to know more about football, especially during Autumn’s football frenzy, this is the book for you. Pick it up today at www.amazon.com or www.barnesandnoble.com. $14.95 paperback.
