| When Reya, a
Reeka Warrior Woman was hunted and considered an Outlaw, she killed many people to survive
and was even a hired mercenary. Now that Reya
and her Reeka sisters are free to roam where they choose and even raise families, Reya
still runs and chooses to battle. She runs
from memories of what she has seen and done and a ruthlessness with her wherever she goes. Death shadows Reya and the burdens on her soul
bring her closer to the edge, closer to insanity. What
horrible burdens does Reya carry with her?
And for one
man, he vows to protect Reya and follow her wherever she goes. Daamen trader, Maverk has loved sassy and tough
Reya for years. No matter how many times Reya
has pushed him away or fought with him, Maverk knows he will never find another lass
who is all hell ever want or need. But
the burdens and the secrets that consume Reya are standing in his way of being with her
and Maverk will follow her into hell and back just to be with her.
Is
Maverks love enough to bring Reya back from the edge of insanity? Will Maverk still love her when he learns what she
has done?
After
enjoying the first book of this series, HEART OF AN OUTLAW immensely, I never thought that
Angela Verdenius could bring an even better story to her readers. But with SOUL OF A MERCENARY, Ms. Verdenius proved
even more to this reader that she is an author to watch out for!
SOUL OF A
MERCENARY is full of
agonizing and passionate emotions, danger, action, humour and excitement. The characters snappy and fun dialogue bring a
softness to this dark story. After meeting
Reya in book one, HEART OF AN OUTLAW, I knew that the life that Reya led was one of death,
agony and harsh survival. I expected her story to be dark and very emotional, but nothing
really prepared me for the full truth of the life that Reya led, the things she saw and
did. It was through tear filled eyes and a
shattering heart much of the time as I read SOUL OF A MERCENARY. But thanks to Maverk, he was the soothing balm
that was needed to set Reya (and my own) heart at ease, and his love was the only thing
that could save Reyas tortured soul.
SOUL OF A
MERCENARY may have
been a bit darker tale than book one, HEART OF AN OUTLAW, but it showed me the writing
talent of Angela Verdenius who wrote such amazing, yet harsh actions and elements in this
dark tale and made it shine with the characters, danger and excitement, the loyalties and
the love of family.
Ms.
Verdenius is an exceptional author who has a big fan in this reader. Her writing is passionate and capturing, drawing
the reader in and anxious to flip to the next page and the next adventure.
