May, author Brenda Harlen debuted with her first book, McIver’s Mission. When I finished reading that book I thought, ‘no
way will she be able to write another tale as good as this one.’ But today, I am glad to say I was wrong. This tale held me captive just as McIver’s
Mission did months ago. Ms. Harlen shows
her strength as a writer with an emotional adventure that keeps the readers on the edge of
their seat. SOME KIND OF HERO is the story of
ex-cop, Joel Logan, who we met in McIver’s Mission. Joel was hired by Shaun McIver to find his
fiancée, Arden’s sister who was adopted over 20 years ago, who Arden hasn’t
seen since. Joel’s investigation leads
him to Riane Rutherford-Quinlan, who he feels an instant, yet unwanted attraction to. From there, readers are swept away by the in-depth
characters, the intrigue of who Riane is (is she or isn’t she Arden’s long-lost
sister), the undeniable attraction and emotion between Joel and Riane and the suspense
that surrounds what really happened all those years ago.
It was wonderful catching up with familiar characters and getting to know
Joel a lot better. SOME KIND OF HERO is
highly recommended by this reviewer, and I hope that a third book from Ms. Harlen is in
store for us soon.
SOME
KIND OF HERO is some kind of story and Brenda Harlen is some kind of author...both not to
be missed!!
