Katie Webster is riding high. The drop dead gorgeous,
wealthy, owner of the prestigious exclusive hotel chain, THP (The Hamilton Place) seems to
have it all. But, Katie is heart broken. Her husband, Ben, has vanished. And, no one knows
where he is.
William Ben Webster lives platonically with a woman named Andi Daniels. Mr. Webster
suffers from amnesia but on this one day, he remembers the name Katie. When he asks Andi
if he knows someone by that name she answers affirmatively and offers to take him to her.
The story begins.
Katie is stressed out. Besides her missing spouse, Katies been through a lot in the
previous years. Including denying death its victory at least twice. But, Katie depends on
her faith to overcome the pitfalls of life. When the manager of the hotel, James
Harrington, seems to balk at everything she tries to do, Katie becomes frustrated. She
does everything she can to please the man, but nothing is good enough. So, when Mr.
Harrington arrives in her office, bearing a gift of some quiet time away in his
familys Vermont home, she is suspicious. However, she does take him up on the offer.
Maybe time away is just what she needs.
Trouble follows Katie and it is only a matter of time before her quiet respite is shadowed
in fear. Is her faith strong enough? Will she see Ben again? And, if these two do meet,
will he remember the woman he once loved so dearly?
Unfortunately, I am at a loss reading only the last book in the trilogy. It is a wonderful
book, although I am sure I would understand secondary characters and relationships better
if I read the two books Shadows of Dreams and Summon the Shadows, first.
None-the-less reading SHADOWS OF LIGHT is an experience I enjoyed. The book is ripe with
suspense. Yet, nothing feels contrived or set-up. It is a smooth ride on the
mystery/suspense sleigh. Ms. Eversons tight writing compels the reader to devour
just one more page, before putting the book down. Consequently, the 393-page
novel is the fattest books Ive read so quickly. You wont regret reading the
series, but I recommend starting with Book one first.
