Jane Alcott, a reporter for the
Seattle Times is surprised when she is assigned to cover the Seattle Chinooks Hockey Team
on the road while another reporter is on sick leave.
Jane is best known for her monthly column in the Times, Single in the
City, but it is Janes scandalous monthly serial The Life of Honey Pie
for the mans magazine Him that she would rather be working on.
Needless to say, it's the talk of mens locker rooms. Jane knows next to nothing about hockey but to
save enough money to buy her own house, she takes the job and rushes out to buy books to
help her learn.
Luc
Martineau, the Seattle Chinooks #1 Goalie, dislikes reporters, especially smart mouthed,
annoying ones like Jane Alcott. After his
knee injury and his addiction to pain killers, the media was everywhere, digging into his
life. Luc doesnt care for Jane
accompanying the team to games, asking endless question, looking dull and boring in her
shapeless black and gray clothing or getting close to his teammates, but he is surprised
when he cant seem to stop thinking about her.
But when
Jane loses her shapeless clothes for that of a sexy, backless red dress, 3 inch heels and
a whole new look to show Luc and the rest of the team that she can handle their taunts, their disrespect and that she isnt going anywhere,
Luc is stunned by this side of Jane and is forced to reconsider all his thoughts about
her. Luc sees that there is many layers to
the woman he thought dull and boring and he wants to learn each one, from head to toe.
But can
Jane and Luc trust each other with their secrets and their hearts?
This
magnificent contemporary romance by Rachel Gibson leaves readers breathless and enthralled
with every page turned. Jane and Luc are two
wonderful characters whose chemistry is explosive, enjoyable and especially decadent when
it comes to a certain horseshoe tattoo!
The
secondary characters in this story; from the
other Chinook players to Janes best friend Caroline to Lucs little sister
Marie, show sides of Jane and Luc that will endear them even more to readers. Jane and Luc are both strong individuals who
dislike showing their vulnerabilities to people, especially each other. Readers should be prepared for some hard hits to
the heart, smooth talking jocks and even some penalties when secrets are revealed in this
story. This book was delightful from start
to the finish and readers dont have to be hockey fans to enjoy it. Rachel Gibson SCORES a hit with this book!
