The chilling opening scene in the view of the victim,
while she is murdered is a great hook. It certainly had me reading just one
more page, until the end.
Megan Tysons mutilated body is found in an isolated area. No one knows who murdered
her and the path to the killer is ripe with possible suspects and false leads. In the
midst of it, all the life of brand new investigating detective Mac McAllister
must go on. His training officer is a long time detective who not only uses police
procedure to meticulously piece clues together, he depends heavily on his relationship
with God. At first Mac doesnt quite know how to take his trainers who
is one of the best detectives around- dependence on prayer and Bible. But, its not
long before Mac discovers the detective business provides a window into a dark side of
humanity. The only way to handle it is with the grace, love and power of a personal
relationship with God.
Who is Megans murderer? Her handsome and very wealthy new fiancé? Has he found
something out about her past that pushed him to this horrible crime? What about clients at
the athletic club where Megan worked? Were some shunned and angry she didnt return
their affections? There are too many possibilities.
Its not an easy case, but the detectives do a great job of showing us how to go
about solving the mystery. Its interesting to watch how each one handles the stress
of the job and at times, they wonder if truly all things are possible with
God, it certainly seems illusive at times.
Mac also has a tumultuous love life to deal with when an old girlfriend shows up and his
new fiancé just doesnt get the detectives new demands on his schedule.
Authors Harrison James and Patricia Rushford do a wonderful job of bringing us through
this crime. Its ugly at times, and I thought it ended abruptly however, it is
Book 1. I cannot wait for more from this talented team. Harrison James is real law
enforcement individual with lots of experience. He has worked undercover and on some
television police shows. I think this is why the book rings so true. Patricia is a
multi-award winning author and in this book it shows!
If you like a little intrigue, crime, romance, and suspense, you will be so glad to have
found SECRETS, LIES & ALIBIES.
