The Commitment is a tale of corporate
espionage
and opposites attracting. Sparks fly when Miranda Symons
awakens to
find herself married to her boss and ex brother-in-law, a man she
considers the
Devil. She works for Millennium Tech, the company which Drake McLain
owns and
operates. Miranda has always been loyal to Drake, even throughout his
messy
divorce involving her sister. However, she draws the line at playing
the role
of devoted wife, especially when she can’t even remember the
circumstances
surrounding their marriage. She soon finds out that she must remain
married to
him because he desperately needs her to help him save his company. What
neither
of them counts on is falling in love in the process.
Miranda’s
fiancé dumps her abruptly with no explanation, thus adding
another failed
relationship to a long list. The next thing that she knows she wakes up
next to
Drake at The Little Love Hotel with a wedding band and a picture of the
ceremony. She is angry and vows to find out what exactly happened and
to
rectify the situation. However, before
they can do so they must acknowledge their feelings for each other. They are drawn together by a passion that is
stronger than both of them. As they team up to save Millennium Tech,
they learn
that they can’t deny the attraction that threatens to consume them in
its
intensity. The more they fight their feelings, the stronger the
attraction
between them becomes.
The
Commitment
is rife
with humor, passion and even corporate espionage. The characters of
Drake and
Miranda are likeable and easily related to. The secondary characters,
Lucy and
Jack are characters that you love to hate. The supporting character,
Alice is charming in her
eccentricity.
The dialogue is smart and funny. Each chapter ends with a clincher that
encourages the reader to continue on reading. The trials that Miranda
and Drake
endure in their quest to save the company and their relationship are
eventful
and fascinating to witness unfolding. It is always enjoyable to watch
as a hero
falls head over heels in love with no intention of doing so and is
helpless to
stop it. I enjoyed the storyline as well as the development of the
characters.
There was action, suspense, humor and of course love. It was an easy,
lighthearted read. I would definitely recommend this book and would
read
another book by Karen Huxman.
