PRIVATE MANEUVERS by Catherine Mann

First Lieutenant Darcy “Wren” Renshaw is determine to prove something to her family and to herself.  She is a C-17 copilot in the Air Force who is eager to be in the middle of the war-zone to prove that she is as good as the rest of her Air Force family. But she is drafted at the last minute to transport a marine biologist and his dolphins to Guam and isn’t happy about it.  After being kidnapped when she was a child, her father, the General has looked out for her and used his status to pull strings to keep her out of danger.  Little does her father know how much danger she is in when it comes to matters of the heart and one very sexy Professor.

Maxwell Keagan, a CIA agent is working undercover as a Professor transporting dolphins to the South Pacific to find the traitor in the agency that had a hand in getting his lover and their unborn child killed two and a half years ago.  The last thing Max needs is Darcy distracting him from his mission or causing chaos in his mind....or his heart.   Max has always been a loner and knows from experience that the less a man has, the less he has to lose.  But Darcy is slipping past his defenses, he feels protective towards her when “accidents” start happening when a faceless assassin targets Darcy as the pawn in a deadly game of revenge against Max and he is determined to keep her safe....even from himself..

This is book 4 in the wonderful Wingmen Warriors series and Catherine Mann keeps the temperatures hotter and the story more captivating with every book.  The intrigue and fast-paced excitement in this story captivates the reader taking them on a thrilling ride with humor, suspense and unforgettable characters.  Darcy Renshaw is a strong, feisty, spitfire who needs to fly like she needs her next breath and is determined to prove she’s got what it takes to be in the Air Force and doesn’t need or want her father’s influence getting her preferential treatment.  Darcy also has a heart of gold and that of a warrior determined to face her past, to move on and to get her man.  When she meets Max Keagan her first impression of him is that of a surfboard dude who wears flashy clothes but that doesn’t keep her from being attracted to him and readers can feel the electricity that sparks off both of them throughout the story.  Max is a strong, intriguing and intense man who doesn’t want to fall for Darcy. He barely lived through the heartache of losing those he loves once and isn’t sure he could live through it a second time. But Max can’t help but see beyond the warrior face to the heart of the woman, one he knows he could lose his heart to.   I loved watching Max and Darcy fall for each other despite the dangerous obstacles in their way and visiting with some of the other Wingmen Warrior characters from past releases.

Catherine Mann pens another marvelous story in this military series and takes no prisoners.   Ms. Mann writes with heart and compassion bringing readers real and memorable storylines, sassy and smooth talking characters and a freshness  that readers can’t get enough of.  As a long time fan of military romances with authors such as Suzanne Brockmann, Lindsay McKenna and Merline Lovelace as a few of my favorites, Catherine Mann fits in extremely well and this list of mine wouldn’t be complete without her.  A reader can always expect the unexpected from a book by this fantastic author, she’ll always keep us guessing and her stories will be unforgettable.  Readers can depend on Catherine Mann for ANYTHING, ANYWHERE, ANYTIME!
