Acclaimed
author Sherrilyn Kenyon continues her Dark-Hunter series with yet another exciting book, Night
Embrace. This book tells the saga Talon of the Morrigantes. This immortal man,
without a soul but with many lethal supernatural abilities, is just one of the countless
Dark Hunters protecting us humans from the innumerable dangerous Daimons, whore
blood-sucking and soul-stealing vampires in human form. Dark Hunters are doomed to roam
the earth for all eternity because of a single act of betrayal. But are they evil
or is it all just attitude?
As the time of
Mardi Gras nears, both Daimons and after them, Dark Hunters converge upon Talons
home ground of Louisiana, where Talon usually spent his nighttime quite happily with his
beignets and chicory coffee and the occasional Daimon slaying, and his days in peaceful
slumber away from Apollos destructive sunshine. But what an irony when one night, he
saves (and gets injured in the process) a woman named Sunshine, which starts off an
uncontrollable chain of events. She takes him to her apartment and when he wakes up, Talon
finds himself without any clothes and immeasurably attracted to this scatterbrained
artist, and she returns his interest, with interest!
They spend a
scorching and passionate day together, but Talon dare not let tender feelings enter into
the equation for obvious reasons. And then, when he sees that Sunshine isnt bothered
by it, Talon surprisingly finds the situation not at all to his liking, and his sudden
emotions make this soulless creature very wary - for during his mortal lifetime, Talon had
lost everything dear to him because of a vengeful Celtic Warrior Gods curse, whod
vowed to destroy anything that Talon finds dear, for eternity. Meanwhile, Sunshine is
stuck with a sense of déjà vu whenever shes with Talon, but little does she
realize the reason behind it. In the interim, not only have Daimons invaded the city, but
many other diabolical and unearthly beings are also walking the streets. What will
Sunshine do when she perceives the truth about Talon? And can Talon and the other
Dark-hunters realize the plot behind all this, before Sunshine ends up a victim?
Sherrilyn Kenyon is
the well-known author behind this modern-day gothic romance. This is book two of the Dark
Hunter series, and was preceded by the prequel Fantasy Lover and the
first book of the series, Night Pleasures. This entire series has a fantastic
premise as its basis, but Ms. Kenyon manages to carry it off with peerless panache. This
book and indeed the series have these super-macho Dark Hunters as the heroes, whore
immortal beings with supernatural abilities. Ms. Kenyon knows the female human psyche all
too well, and as such her stories always have something unique, something magical,
something different but at the same time very familiar, and her heroes are not only the
ultimate alpha men, but are also the embodiment of every female fantasy! Talon is one such
blonde and lethal bombshell. Sunshine is truly to be envied for having this hunk a hunka
of burnin desire, designed to steal every ladys heart away, all for herself!
The story is well rounded, with romance as its cornerstone, and plenty of action,
suspense, humor, and sorrow, to give flesh to the entire tall tale. The characters are
many, and it is to Ms. Kenyons indubitable credit, that theyre all almost as
interesting as Talon himself! The fiery passion is as inbred as the romance, and is
equally creative and fascinating!
It is very easy to
see why this author has garnered herself an almost cult-like following, and this reviewer
is only the latest to join the bandwagon!
Simply superb!
