What in the world is Katherine “Kat” MacCrae going to do? She’s just been handed an assignment to interview famous wildlife photographer, Ben Forrester before his next gallery showing. What Kat’s editor doesn’t know is Ben and Kat share a painful past. Six months earlier, Kat’s sister Anna mysteriously disappeared while engaged to Ben. Around the time of Anna’s disappearance, Kat and Ben gave into their mutual attraction and had a wonderful night of passion. Realizing she betrayed her sister, Kat took her anger out on Ben. Can Kat face Ben again knowing she still has feelings for him and knowing she’s keeping secrets from him?
Ben Forrester’s agent has just set him up to do an interview with a journalist from Today’s Life. Ben and the journalist are to spend several days at his isolated cabin so the journalist can interview him while he works. Ben is not happy; he knows Kat MacCrae, the woman who broke his heart, works there. Six month ago Ben agreed to fake an engagement to Anna MacCrae. What Ben didn’t expect was to fall deeply in love with her sister Kat. Ben knew he loved Kat after their one and only night together. This night was filled with more passion than he had ever known. When Kat tells him it’s over and that she never wants to see him again, Ben leaves never expecting to see Kat again. What will he do when he realizes Kat is the journalist sent to interview him?
The events that took place six months earlier almost destroyed Ben and Kat. Ben was so open with Kat about his feelings and she threw them back in his face. Kat knows the secret she’s keeping from Ben could change the way he feels about her. Old feelings and new ones surface during their time at the cabin and passions long denied burst into flames. Can Ben’s love help Kat overcome her incredible uncertainty about him? Will Ben be able to get past Kat’s lack of trust in his love?
Loving Ben was a pleasure to read. I am a fan of lovers who reunite after losing each other. Although the time frame between the affair and the reunion is only six months, the love and angst between the characters is as profound as some whose feelings have simmered for years.
This is my first opportunity to read a book by Jan Janssen, but I will definitely look for her work again. Her ability to give these characters such an intense connection after such a brief affair is incredible. Her take on an age old storyline was different and refreshing. Ben was my favorite character, his honestly and helplessness where Kat was concerned made me love him all the more. Read Loving Ben and before you know it, you will love him too.
