Eighteen
years ago, Joy Hudson left Wharton, Kentucky after the death of her best friend, Jenny. For years Joy has run from the memories of the past but now she has no
choice but to return to her hometown, when her fathers health takes a turn for the
worse. Joy is now a veterinarian and decides to make a name for
herself, starts her own business and even buys the house that once belonged to
Jennys family. But she isnt received as positively as
she hoped to be, as mysterious and dangerous accidents begin happening that leave her
wondering what unknown enemy she has. Joy must find the strength
to face the past, renew a relationship with her parents, discover who is seeking to harm
her and to also face the man that she believes killed Jenny.
Dr. Jeff Bradford
dated Jenny years ago, he was driving the car that killed her and he barely survived the
accident himself. For eighteen years he has known that Joy Hudson
blamed him for her best friends death and he now hopes that with her return to
Wharton, he will have a chance to explain to her what really happened. But
the closer Jeff tries to get to Joy, the more she pushes him away. Jeff
vows to keep Joy protected from whatever danger is intent on seeing her suffer.
Will the past, the
death of Jenny bring Joy and Jeff together, or will it tear them apart in the end?
Emotionally
gripping, suspenseful and superb is Edie Claires Long Time Coming. Edie Claire puts a lot of emotion and power into the words of this
story. By the end of the first chapter I was hooked and did not
stop reading until the very last page. There is such a vast array
of fascinating characters in this story, from Joy and Jeff to the secondary characters to
Jeffs dog Bear, all of which will capture a readers attention and draw us into
their friendships and families. The added possibility of
Jennys ghost captivates the reader. I was held in
wonderment over much of this story and realized early on to expect the unexpected. This is a story of trust, love, friendship and healing.
Ms. Claire is an author I hope to see more of in the future. If Long
Time Coming is any indication of her writing talent, I will be first in line at
the bookstores to get more of her work. This is a positively
splendid tale from start to finish and is highly recommended.
