Gaelen Foley is back with yet another addition to her simply
enchanting Knight series books! In Lady of Desire, Lady Jacinda Knight,
the minx we met before in the previous books, gets to star in a book of her own. Powerful
emotions and devious plot twists will keep the readers guessing and makes Lady of
Desire a must for your keeper shelf!
Impetuous Lady Jacinda Knight is
the daughter of a scandalous woman. Though society predicts she'll follow in her mother's
footsteps, the spirited beauty stands unashamed of her passionate nature. When a harmless
prank results in her elder brother fixing up her marriage with an old family friend, Lady
Jacinda Knight becomes furious. This eighteen-year-old minx has enough of her mothers
blood in her to rebel a loveless marriage and so decides to run off to France. But alas!
Even before she leaves the English shores, Jacinda is robbed and while chasing the young
pickpocket, finds herself caught in the middle of a slum gang war. There she once again
meets the unforgettable Billy Blade, the handsome and notorious leader of a gang of
thieves and other such criminals. Attraction between them is instantaneous and fiery, but
both are well aware of the societal gulf that separates them.
But
Billy is a man with a mysterious past and Jacindas innocent sensuality is a
challenge that he simply cannot take, nor something that he can ever forget. Having
suffered for the whole of her young life the stigma of being one of the numerous children
of Georgina, the Hawkscliffe Harlot, Jacinda is well aware of the consequences of loving
rashly. Billy attracts her immensely but her mothers blood in her simultaneously
makes her feel tempted and be cautious. What, if anything, will happen between these two
headstrong, willful and handsome beings, especially when one is the daughter of a Duke and
the other is a street thug?!
Galen
Foley has written marvelous stories about some of the other offsprings of the
Hawkscliffe Harlot and more are in the offing. But the plot of Lady of
Desire is different from the other books in this series as well as from the
general romance books set in this time period. This is mainly because of the fact that in
this book the guy is the one whos of inferior social status rather than it being the
other way round, as is the case usually. Billys character is handsome, tortured,
roguish and wicked the ideal combination to simply steal your breath, heart and
purse! Jacinda is a curious mixture of insecurity, frankness, sensuality and innocence
all of which combined with wit and a temper to boot, make her a really dashing and
very enjoyable heroine! This story is romantic and in Ms. Foleys adept hands, has
taken a life of its own and become timeless and terrific. Other Knight siblings also put
in brief appearances. The pace of the story never falters, and with humor and wit proceeds
till the very exciting end. Kudos to Gaelen Foley for keeping and holding the readers
interested in the Knight series, book after fabulous book!
Note
Previous books in this series include: The Duke (Robert and Bel), Lord of Fire
(Lucien and Alice) & Lord of Ice (Damien and Miranda). Look out for the next book,
which will be about Lizzie, Jacindas companion and an honorary Knight.
