Nick Black is an expert on San
Rimini. And well he should be, considering
that he was born there, and has been collecting artifacts and manuscripts from San Rimini
history for quite a long while. Hes
also had a lot of time to think about his ancestry, more than 800 years, to be precise. Hes seen Kings reign and die and reality
become history. As a monk, hed even
catalogued San Rimini history, painstakingly and by hand.
If anyone can be considered an expert on San Rimini history, it is Nick
Black.
Nick Black was born in 1163, though his name was
Domenico di Bollazio at the time. He was a
knight, entrusted frequently with the Kings business, and one fortunate enough to
live through the Third Crusade.
But now, in 2003, hes Nick Black, an
eccentric recluse living in Boston. As an
immortal, over the years hes discovered the dangers of allowing the public to see
him, and in this age of technology, it is easier than ever for images of him to be
captured against his will. He must avoid that
at all costs as he seeks the one thing that can cure him of the curse of immortal life.
Princess Isabella diTalora is on a mission
one that will put the finishing touches on a project that had been near to her
mothers, before that dear lady had passed away - and she needs Nick Blacks
help in cataloging an enormous collection of artifacts and historical documents which have
been left to gather dust in the storage beneath the royal palace. Hes good, or so say the professors at the
University of San Rimini.
Princess Isabella offers Nick just what hes
been seeking, a chance to have unlimited access to the same historical documents that
hes sought for so long. He cannot turn
her down, nor can he ignore the effect that this charming royal exerts.
Nicole Burnham has written a winner with The
Knights Kiss. Not only is Ms.
Burnhams style refreshing to read, but the historical details presented are
outstanding. The Knights Kiss is
a spectacular blend of today and yesterday; the plot is fresh, the romance is tender, and
the paranormal theme adds a wonderful excitement to this provocative tale. Ms. Burnhams prose flows from
the page, keeping the readers attention until the very last page, where a surprise
ending awaits. Kudos go to Ms. Burnham for
providing a wonderful respite of reading pleasure.
