THE KISSING GAME by Kasey Michaels

Five years ago Allegra Nesbitt’s life change forever.  Her father, Oxie suddenly inherited the title of the Earl of  Sunderland.  All her life she and her parents lived a simple and carefree life.  Allegra wasn’t brought up as a Lady of Society but an ordinary girl who got into fights, got dirty and didn’t have to worry about titles, balls or acceptable behavior.

Allegra also grew up as an accomplice in many of her fathers schemes and pranks, something Oxie Nesbitt is best known for.  That is why when Oxie announces that they will be going to London for the Season, Allegra doesn’t believe him one bit, she is certain that he is pulling another of his endless jokes because she knows that her mother, Countess Magdalen is too embarrassed to return to London after the fiasco that occurred when she and Oxie first inherited their titles.  Oxie pulled so many disastrous pranks on all of London’s elite Society years ago that they have yet to forgive him and have shunned him and the Countess.

But much to Allegra’s surprise, they are all on their way to London for the Season and she is certain the trip will be another disaster and bring more embarrassment to her mother and to herself as she knows nothing about being a Lady among Society.  And she realizes that her father is also under the notion of finding her a husband, which she is determined he will not do. For Lady Allegra Nesbitt, her loving, sweet ever the handful of a father has gone to far.....and she is going to teach him a lesson.

When Armand Gauthier, their London neighbor invites her family to a ball that he is hosting, Allegra suspects his motives and schemes her way into his house.  After their first meeting both Armand and Allegra are enchanted with one another and begin spending time together, each having their own agendas.  Allegra is determined to show her father that she won’t marry just because he wishes her to, so she and Armand make a pact and set into motion a scheme that to teach the notorious joker, Earl Oxie a lesson or two.  Spending time with Armand also gives Allegra the opportunity to learn who he really is.  He has many secrets and Allegra can’t resist uncovering them all.  But neither of them are sure who they are fooling: Oxie, Society....or themselves.

Ms. Michaels delivers a wonderfully delightful, charming and entertaining story that is sure to have all readers laughing out loud and enthralled from the very beginning.  The hilarious antics of Earl Oxie Nesbitt are harmless and adds so much humor to this story that he wormed his way into this reader’s heart.   This wonderful tale is also full of absolutely charming and funny secondary characters, Allegra’s cousin Lady Elizabeth, Armand’s best friend Bones right down to the servants to the families in London.

And there is no way, anyone could ever forget Allegra and Armand.  Allegra is a wonderful, spirited heroine.  She is loyal to her father; even with all his pranks he has pulled over the years, strong, intelligent and knows how to stand up for herself.  Armand is a charismatic man of mystery.  He entered Society under the wing of an Earl and won everyone in the ton over.  No one knows a thing about him, some speculate that he was a gambler, or even a highwayman but he is intelligent, funny, kind man who adores Allegra and even enjoy’s Oxie’s pranks immensely.

Allegra and Armand both meet their match with each other,  they are both smitten but will fight it within themselves and to each other.   This romantic tale is a splendid, entertaining read with a touch of danger and suspense. Ms. Michaels does a superb job with a fabulous, smooth flowing story readers won’t be able to put down.  The laughs never stop and the romance and characters will live on in   readers hearts even after the last page.
