Daniel is so selfish he cant say the words his
girlfriend, Lenore so desperately needs to hear: I love you. Even though they have a child
together, he doesnt want to commit. He feels movie star status is just around the
corner. He is correct, but even after hiring a good agent and landing a television show,
something is still missing. Daniel is surrounded by people and still feels alone. He
begins to fill the void in his life with booze. Soon, not even those who truly love him
want to be with him. And, once his life takes its downward spiral he cant slow it
down.
Lenore sees herself as plain and mousey. She knows this is why her handsome, charismatic
boyfriend, Daniel wont commit his love to her. Lenore hoped when Scott was born,
Daniel would see beyond her outward appearance to the warm, mom and wife inside. Besides
unrequited love, Lenore is happy but not content. Something is missing and when she tells
Daniel, she wants marriage and he says nothing - Lenore knows it is time to move on. With
little cash and fierce determination to make a better life for Scott, they move to
Seattle.
Circumstance and providence are abundantly evident in this book. The reader cannot but be
touched by the Spirit of God as they read. More than a romance story, If I Gained The
World is a glimpse into how the God of the universe cares for each of us no matter how
high we fly, or how bad we crash.
If I Gained The World is an experience. Ms Nichols touches the tender part of out soul
that is often hidden away, protected by walls of life experience and pain. I think anyone
who has ever felt lost, unloved, lonely or confused about lifes path would surely be
delighted with the book. I have to say, If I Gained The World is certainly a must read.
