When
Leah of Pecham ends up saving the life of Geoffrey Hamelin, she finds
she may have bitten off more than she could chew.
Leah
and Geoffrey are in a shipwreck. Geoffrey saved Leah’s life, and she, in
turn, saves his. Leah was on her way back home to deal with her
over-bearing father. Leah left home after running of with Bastian, a
ship’s captain. Bastian’s promises proved untrue, and now Leah has no
choice but to return home. Geoffrey left his home several years ago, and
is only returning to attend the wedding of his sister.
When
Leah manages to rescue Geoffrey, the townspeople all assume he’s her
husband. As no one arrived at the dock to claim Geoffrey – who was
hovering near death - Leah decided to take him home to Pecham with her.
Leah figured that the words of the physician would prove true, that
Geoffrey had injuries he’d never survive. Since Geoffrey would
eventually die, what harm could it do to take him home and nurse him?
Well,
Geoffrey did not die…
Leah
and Geoffrey grow very close and both develop tender feelings towards
one another. Leah has no choice but to keep the ruse of their “marriage”
going. This deceit weighs heavily on Leah before too long. She’s always
hoping for the right opportunity to approach her father with the truth.
She is able to keep the secret for quite some time because though
Geoffrey heals from his physical injuries wonderfully, he has amnesia.
THE
IDEAL HUSBAND was a delightful read. I don’t often get to read medieval
romances, so this was an extra treat. There is also underlying intrigue
in this book, considering the nefarious actions of Leah’s brother, Odo.
The
love and passion displayed between Leah and Geoffrey make THE IDEAL
HUSBAND a warm and tender love story. With a heartrending, exciting and
tension-filled conclusion, this is a book you’ll not want to miss.
