Highland Honor is a
story of honor compromised - by deceit and by treachery. More than a
story of one man struggling to hold true to the Highlander's code of
ethics, it's a story of a man honoring his own conscience.
Gavin McGregor is thrown into adulthood too soon when he is caught in an
ambush against his father while flirting with a runaway girl.
Unbeknownst to him, the girl ends up saving his life after she witnesses
his father's murder and he is caught in the crossfire, but Gavin is told
she has been killed in the attack.
Hannah Campbell is the daughter of a rival clan. When she runs away
after contemplation of an arranged marriage, the young warrior who
promises to return her safely home captures her heart from the start.
Upon witnessing the execution of a rival laird, she is hurried away from
the Highlands to grow up away from the feuding and the clan wars by her
own ambitious brothers.
Ten years later, Gavin agrees to an arranged marriage with the Campbell
clan to ally the two rivals against a common enemy. His engagement to a
bride he's never seen and who is past common marriageable age leaves
Gavin feeling confident that the 'hand-fasting,' which is meant to last
no longer than a year and a day, will see him honoring his pledge to
return the bride untouched to her clan once the common enemy has been
defeated. Highland Honor is put to the test quickly, testing Gavin's
word to Hannah's brother and the secrets embedded deeply within both
clans surrounding the events of the day Gavin's father was murdered.
Ms. Pepio weaves an intricate tale of honor and love and clan
allegiances. This is a story of an ambitious Scots warrior and an
equally fiery Scottish woman. For anyone who loves a Scottish
historical, this story is eminently satisfying. Recommended.
