Society dictates that he
must marry
and produce an heir, but Norton Russell Foxhall, the Earl of Granby, is
in no
hurry to take a wife. His married
friends seem happy but Granby doesn’t like how their
wives lead
them around like love sick pups. Granby’s wealth, good looks and
reputation
make him a magnet for beautiful and willing women and pleasuring them
comes
natural to him. Granby is satisfied to continue
his
conquests for a long, long time…that is until he is literally run over
by the
most beautiful, sexy, stubborn creature he’s ever met. Catherine
Hardwick tests
Granby at every turn but he can
see the
desire burning in her beautiful hazel eyes.
Their first kiss convinces Granby that this woman is
different in
many ways and once he makes up his mind…look out. Can
he resist her beauty and her innocence or
will Granby give up the masses for
this one special lady?
Catherine Hardwick is a
country girl
through and through and has no intention of marrying…ever…especially to
an Earl. Her friends are unhappily married
to aristocrats. She thinks marriage should
be about love and
partnerships not infidelity and dominance.
So she is satisfied to stay single and independent. Catherine has come of age and her Aunt thinks
she needs to have a coming out season in London to find a suitable
husband…Catherine has other ideas…that is until she meets Granby. Their first meeting is memorable and
afterward she battles with herself every time she sees him…he’s
gorgeous, sexy,
rich and stubborn all the things she loathes…but she is drawn to him in
a way
she’s never been drawn to a man before. Can
she quench her desires for this man and not want more of him?
Before reading He Said No, I read
He Said Yes the first book in
Patricia Waddell’s Gentleman’s Club
Series. I
hadn’t read a historical romance in years
and I was instantly reminded why I loved them so much.
He
Said No was even better than He
Said Yes and that was a hard act to follow.
It is not necessary to read He Said
Yes first but, but I
would hate for you to miss a really great book and actually I fell for
Granby in the first book. Granby is just the type of hero
you want
to read about and he will definitely go on my “Favorite Heroes” list,
maybe
even in the top spot. Catherine is the
perfect match for this scoundrel; she challenges and provokes him every
chance
she gets. Granby and Catherine are both
stubborn and
have trouble communicating their true feelings but once they submit to
the
simmering passion...you better hold on cause the rest of the ride is
one you
won’t want to miss.
Patricia Waddell an
extremely
talented author with an eye for detail. He Said No holds you captive until
the last page and the only disappointment I had was that the book had
to end. It is a story full of everything a
truly
exceptional romance should have…sexual tension, comedy, sensuality,
extraordinary
characters and last but not least a happy ending. Ms.
Waddell’s colorful descriptions of places
and things are so complete that you can actually visualize and feel
them. I am always delighted to have the
opportunity
to read and review a good book, but I am honored when the book is as
good as
this one. The characters are
multi-dimensional
and unforgettable…you long to keep reading about them. This
series has two more books, but Ms.
Waddell has her work cut out for her if she’s going to beat the
characters in
the first two, especially Granby and Catherine.
