Three years have passed since Jessica
MacKendall has seen Dane Pierce. Jessica and Mac have made a
wonderful life for themselves and their son. But now Dane is
returning to Hollywood to work on a film with Mac. Jessica is anxious to see Dane and cant wait to have him close
to home once again. But tragedy strikes when Macs plane
goes down and he is dead, leaving a shocked and grief-stricken Jessica alone.
Dane has mixed emotions of returning to Hollywood and seeing the woman of his heart on a daily
basis. Dane made a promise to Mac years ago that he would never
make a move on Jessica again. But now Mac is gone and Jessica is
looking to him for comfort, guidance and as a friend. Can Dane
keep his promise of long ago to his old friend? Now that Mac is
gone, is there a future for Dane with Jessica?
After reading the emotional and intriguing
StarCrossed Hearts, the prequel to A HEROS PROMISE, I was curious to see what would
happen in this sequel. I am not quite sure what I really
expected, never considered where Anne Carter would take us, but I never would have
imagined what did happen. I have to say, I am somewhat
disappointed in this sequel to StarCrossed Hearts. The tragic
death of Mac was emotional and shocking to say the least. I could
not believe that he was gone and wondered why it had to happen. I
dont feel that it should have been that easy of an opening for Dane to walk back
into Jessicas life and arms, as a white knight to save the day. Dane
may have changed in some ways, but his past deeds are still troublesome to overlook.
In all fairness though, A HEROS PROMISE
was impossible to put down. I had to continue to see what would
happen. IN all honesty, Jessica and Dane do not have an easy time
of it, after Macs death. With their children in turmoil, a
murder investigation, their own hearts breaking over all that has transpired and trying to
get over the past, makes it a heck of a journey that sometimes seemed more work than
pleasure. Anne Carter writes a capturing tale that definitely
needs to be read by all. While I may not have agreed with some
aspects of the story, as I mentioned, Ms. Carter pens and incredible tale that holds the
reader captive with her words, her characters and the suspense of what will happen next.
A HEROS PROMISE is a tale that I just
have to recommend. In my opinion, one has to read StarCrossed
Hearts before venturing to read this one. I do not feel that the
reader would get the full effect of who all the characters are without doing so. Anne Carter is an author that I will most definitely be reading again
and I look forward to doing so.
