Chase
Chandler has lived in Yorkshire Falls all his life, running the Yorkshire Gazette and
helping to raise his two younger brothers after his fathers death two years ago. Now that his younger brothers, Roman and Rick are
all grown-up and married with lives of their own, Chase is ready to pursue the dreams he
put on hold. Chase dreams of making his name
known in the journalism world and thanks to his brother Romans connections, he
travels to Washington, D.C., to get an exclusive interview with Senator Michael Carlisle,
who is running for Vice Presidency .
Sloane
Carlisle has always believed that Michael Carlisle is her biological father. But when Sloane overhears two of the campaign
advisors discussing a Samson Humphrey who claims to be her real father, and hears them
threaten Samsons life, Sloane is devastated and seeks to escape her thoughts, ending
up in a local bar. Sloane meets Chase at the
bar and, not knowing each others names, they feel an instant attraction for each
other, ending up spending a heated and passionate night together.
The next day
Sloane discusses her parentage with her stepmother, Madeline and makes the decision to go
to Yorkshire Falls to meet Samson, find out about his relationship with her mother and
protect him from harm. Worried for
Sloanes state of mind and safety in Yorkshire Falls, Madeline asks Chase to keep an
eye on her when he returns home to Yorkshire Falls. Chase agrees to Madelines
request in exchange for the first exclusive interview with Michael Carlisle. It will put Chase on the map in journalism if he
can have the interview before any other journalists.
But all thoughts of his career are forgotten when Chase sees Sloane Carlisles
photo and he realizes that he already has met her, up close and personal, from the night
before....
Will Chase
and Sloanes one night stand lead to much more?
What answers will Sloane find in Yorkshire Falls? Will the last Chandler man find
the love of his life?
It was with
joy and sadness reading THE HEARTBREAKER. I was happy to have the last story of the
Chandler Brothers Trilogy in my hands to see who would capture Chases heart and what
adventure we would be on with the Chandler boys. But
for me, it was also a little sad as well because I knew this was the end of the Chandler
Brothers Trilogy and I really didnt want to see it end. This conclusion was worth wait and was read in one
sitting within a couple of hours. I enjoyed
catching up with Roman and Charlotte (THE BACHELOR) and Rick and Kendall (THE
PLAYBOY) as well as Raina Chandler and
find out more about her sweet romance with her beau Eric.
In THE HEARTBREAKER, there is intrigue, passion, powerful emotions
and all the characters are forever ingrained in this readers heart. Sloane and Chase are charismatic and passionate
people who venture into a short-term affair, but it doesnt take long for either of
them to want much more. In the typical
Chandler style, Chase becomes very protective of Sloane, protecting her from being hurt by
Samson and even from himself. Sloane also
feels protective of Chase and will do anything to see him happy, including letting him go
so he can fulfill his dreams.
I have
always been pleased with stories by Carly Phillips and the way she entwined these three
stories, bringing them all together and having Sloanes father living in Yorkshire
Falls was absolutely perfect! Ms. Phillips is high on my list of favourite authors with
every one of her books on my keeper shelves, but none of her stories captured or touched
me more than these tales of the Chandler Brothers. (Dont ask me to choose a
favourite!)
THE
HEARTBREAKER is a MUST
read, as are the first two books of this trilogy. It
is triple the pleasure with these gorgeous, strong and sexy as sin brothers who will
capture a girls heart with just one look. It
is with a happy, yet sad, heart to say good-bye to Yorkshire Falls and the Chandler family
for now, but I can guarantee, it wont be long before I take my books of the keeper
shelf and visit them all again soon!
