Joelle Sinclair has just recently split with her
husband, Arnez. Her life is comfortable, as shes living rather well from the alimony
shes receiving. However, her life as a gallery organizer still leaves something to
be desired. Her sister Stephanie always told her she would have a place to go if she ever
needed to get away from the city. Joelle decides to quit her job and to head to her
sisters place in the Hamptons. She may not have been able to rely on her cheating
husband, but her sister has always been there for her.
Almost immediately upon arriving in the Hamptons, while sunning, Joelle meets the dashing
Jabari Mitchell. Joelle would rather not be interested, as she is at a turning point in
her life. However, Jabari works rather diligently at winning Joelle over, and she
reluctantly agrees to spend time with him. One simple rule, a fling is all shell go
for, as she does not want a man in her life full-time. Will Joelle be able to keep her
feelings apart from her actions when dealing with Jabari?
In the meantime, Joelles love of art takes her to a local gallery where she is able
to get a job as organizer. It is a bit of a challenge, as she has to organize an event in
three days time. While she is working on this, Jabari shows up again, this time,
convincing Joelle to bid on him in an upcoming charity bachelor auction. Thus begins the
exciting relationship between Joelle and Jabari.
Joelle is a strong woman who has gone through a lot supporting a husband who hurt her
beyond belief. It is easy to see Joelles growth, not only during her marriage, but
during the time when in The Hamptons, where she works extremely hard at the gallery.
Jabari is impressive, a lawyer on vacation in the Hamptons where he woos Joelle and feeds
into her needs.
Both Joelle and Jabari will engross you in their affair and there is a great plot twist
that will catch you off-guard. THE HAMPTONS is a story that drives the point home that if
something seems too good to be true, it probably is. Kudos to Ms. Grosvenor for writing
such a riveting and engrossing story. This is the second book Ive read by Ms.
Grosvenor, and am thrilled to say she writes with enough aplomb that I will most certainly
come back for more.Reviewed by Robin Taylor for The Road
