For
sixteen years, Anna Catalan has avoided and felt betrayed by her Aunt Rose. Years ago, her Aunt Rose committed the most
unforgivable act against Anna and her mother, that Anna has never found it in her heart to
forgive or forget. But after finding her
boyfriend in her bed with her boss, Anna goes home to Maryland after her Aunt Iris offers
her a job in the familys restaurant that has fallen on hard times. Anna and Rose work together civilly, but with
underlying tensions and hurt feelings towards each other.
Rose wants to reconcile any differences with Anna and will do anything to
make sure it happens. Anna finds that the
past is always present and that it is difficult working in the restaurant where the
generations gaps between her and her aunts, cause even more conflict.
Anna
also finds it difficult to accept her feelings for photographer, Mason Winograd, who is
hard to resist. But Anna is in no way ready for another relationship, after the recent
betrayals from her ex-boyfriend and she is determined not to make the same mistakes ever
again. Can Anna and Rose reconcile their
differences over the past? Are some things
even forgivable?
A truly remarkable tale of
family, trust and forgiveness. Patricia
Gaffney writes a poignant tale that cause the reader to sit back and think of the things
in this world that might be unforgivable, and to think about family and relationships. Ms. Gaffney writes with insight into the
relationships of women, whether they are mothers and daughters, friends or aunts and
nieces, as is the situation in FLIGHT LESSONS. Ms. Gaffney shows how fragile relationships between
women can be and that women take trust, loyalties, and friendships very seriously. I thoroughly enjoyed this appealing tale of
powerful and dynamic ladies that keep the reader captivated and intrigued until the very
end. FLIGHT LESSONS is a wonderful and
emotional tale that comes highly recommended by this reviewer.
