EVERYTHING AND THE MOON by Julia Quinn

Do you believe in love at first sight?  Is this a concept totally beyond your understanding?  Julia Quinn brings her readers a wonderfully, warm tale of Regency England in EVERYTHING AND THE MOON in which she explores the idea that love on first sight may not be so unbelievable as many think it might be.

Robert Kemble, the Earl of Macclesfield believes he's fallen in love with the vicar's beautiful daughter, Victoria Lyndon - not because of her intelligence, nor her beauty, nor her grace but simply because she's perfect.  However, both Robert and Victoria's fathers believe their children are in danger of making the wrong choice.  Robert's father tells his son that it would be foolhardy that a woman would fall in love with him merely for himself - Victoria obviously wants the Earl's fortune.  On the other hand, Victoria's father tells her that men of Robert Kemble's noble ilk are only likely to want one thing and that is to seduce and then discard women of the working class. Neither of the young people can disbelieve their fathers and thus, the scene is set for seven years of loneliness and frustration.

On once again meeting Victoria, Robert sets out to seduce her with a vengeance but soon discovers that revenge is impossible - he truly loves Victoria Lyndon, who has run from the only life she's known and become a governess.  Can Robert convince her to become his wife despite the odds?

EVERYTHING AND THE MOON is a poignant story of young love foiled and then rediscovered.  Ms. Quinn is a talented writer who draws the reader in and keeps her reading until the satisfying conclusion through an often hilarious romp with the ton and their foibles.  EVERYTHING AND THE MOON will surely make you change your mind about whether love at first sight is truly possible...
