From the previous two books of the Pearl Island
Trilogy, readers have come to know and fall in love with the indomitable
St. Claire siblings. With his sisters Rory and Allison happily settled,
its now sexy chef Adrian’s to star in a book of his own and to try and
bring a measure of peace to the long separated souls of Captain Jack
Kingsley and Marguerite.
Adrian comes to Galveston to negotiate with Captain
Jackie Taylor, a descendant of Captain Jack Kingsley. His main intent is
to persuade Jackie to allow the Texas Historical Commission to
authenticate a historic letter in her possession, which would mean a
treasure hunt of sorts to locate the legendary powder horn. He also
hopes to make arrangements for Jackie to ferry tourists in her schooner
from Galveston to Pearl Island where the up & coming St. Claire B&B is
located, to both their financial advantage. However Adrian is not all
business – the beautiful but prickly Jackie and her constant rejection
of his flirtatious advances only make this sexy and confident man all
the more intrigued.
While Adrian and his offer are most tempting,
Jackie has good reasons for refusing him. A checkered past and bitter
experiences have made this young woman very mistrustful and the last
thing she wants is more bad publicity for her already struggling charter
cruise business. But Adrian won’t take ‘no’ for an answer, and Jackie is
just not ready to take risks.
Who’ll win this most challenging and romantic war
of senses? Will Jackie let her ancestral piratical blood sweep her away
into a tempest of sensual delights or are Adrian and Jackie doomed to
repeat their ancestors’ tragic love story? Read the concluding story in
this most dashing series to discover the surprising ending for
yourself!
Julie Ortolon is an author who’s established a
tradition for writing very romantic, comical, sexy as well as greatly
intriguing and entertaining stories and the Pearl Island trilogy is the
latest proof of this. The first story in this series, “Falling for You”,
set a successful trend, which was followed most ably by the second book
“Lead Me On”. But this striking conclusion to the series, “Don’t Tempt
Me” is better, deeper and more tempting than ever before and easily
stands out on its own. The passion between the lead characters, Adrian
and Jackie sizzles as hot as the Texas sun while their tempestuous
altercations add a new level of suspense to the story. The
characterizations are so wonderful and astute as to reflect the great
care with which the author has crafted them so as to render them utterly
unforgettable. The treasure hunt upon which hangs the conclusion of an
ancient and tragic love affair, is not only exciting but also provides
the readers with some interesting facts about underwater excavation and
extraction.
Vivid, filled with exquisite details, drama and
depth, this Julie Ortolon book is a gem, to say the least.
