COMING HOME by Shirlee Busbee

Roxanne Ballinger ‘Roxy’ has moved to Oak Valley, her hometown. The once high-paid beauty model has had enough city life and, yearning for home, bought acres and a small cabin on the mountain. Her family has forever lived lived in Oak Valley and as prosperous cattle ranchers, they own plenty of land. Roxy didn’t need to buy anything to return home, but she wants her own land. The old cabin needs a lot of work, but she doesn’t mind. A family feud between the Ballinger’s and another family has finally died down and Roxy is sure she will return to peace and quiet.

Jeb Delaney is the town sheriff, and as such, he makes it his business to be aware of new arrivals. This is one reason he comes to check out Roxy’s new digs. He’s not looking for romance but he can’t seem to keep his mind off her. Twice burned in love, Jeb is not a candidate for romantic relationships.

Roxanne is surprised at the strong feelings she has for Jeb. More than anything, she wants to not like him. Ever since the incident when she was 17, she’s hated him. But, now, another kind of feeling exists. It’s taking a bit to get used to living back home. But, Roxy is determined to make it work. Jeb and his completely handsome charismatic body and personality are too much of a distraction.

Can these two strong personalities avoid more heartache or will this be their final destination to love?

A colorful cast of characters and a great story makes COMING HOME a fun read. I especially liked the incident with the cow. With vivid picture painting and a keen sense of timing, Ms Busbee gives a neat treat. It’d make fun fireside reading this fall or winter. And, I’ll be looking for the first book, Return to Oak Valley as soon as possible!
