Beautiful Gwenyth Comyn, daughter of Sir John Comyn,
flees for her life when Robert the Bruce murders her family. She is captured and not only
stripped of titles and lands, Gwenyth is ferociously raped. The only thing she knows for
sure about the attacker is that he isnt handsome, clean-shaven Adam MacKintosh who
stands accused by her captors. They insist she either point out the right man, or agree
with them, that Adam is indeed the one who raped her.
All her life she has tried to not only please God, but to listen and obey Him. How could
He let this happen? Does He no longer care for her? He has taken her family, home, and
identity away, and now she must either falsely accuse Adam of the vicious crime or tell
the truth and remain in the control of the real rapist. How can she choose?
A bond develops between Gwenyth and Adam. She senses she can trust the handsome man. But,
what if he wants nothing to do with her? If only God would answer her prayers. Her choice
could be the difference between life and death for both of them.
Of course, you want to know what happens next, and I wish I could tell you, but to do so
would be to spoil the delicious treat waiting to be devoured. Ms. Umberger has not held
back on any aspect of this gem. A feast of history, passion, and faith are served in this
completely satisfying debut novel. I have no problem understanding why CIRCLE OF HONOR won
RWAs Golden Heart award.
Not only will you love the romance in this story, you will be swept to another time and
another place when you get lost in the adventure. I highly recommend CIRCLE OF HONOR and
give it my first Reviewers Award for a historical romance.
The best thing about CIRCLE OF HONOR - other then the superb story itself is it is
Number one in the Scottish Crown series - Number two is THE PRICE OF FREEDOM - Number
three THE MARK OF SALVATION and I was just informed number four, THE PROMISE OF PEACE will
be coming out in September 2004!
