Katherine Garbera's CINDERELLA'S CONVENIENT HUSBAND is the next story in the popular
Connelly series from Silhouette. This is Seth's story, and he's got some major issues that
eat at him as he faces his destiny in the wilds of Montana. The story begins as Seth takes a vacation to his best friends family
ranch, the only place he's ever felt he belonged. He spent time there as a young boy, and
was treated like one of the family. As he escapes the pressures both sides of his family
have put on him in Chicago, he finds Lynn McCoy, his best friends little sister, working
in a diner to make ends meat to be able to keep the ranch afloat. She and her brother Matt
own it, but Matt is in the military and away on special assignment. Seth sees immediately
that things are worse than Lynn lets on. She could lose her homestead, Seth's only
sanctuary.
Seth has always had feelings for Lynn, and she for
him, but neither ever dared act upon them. Seth was a wild teen, while Lynn was the
innocent, protected girl of the family. But when she refuses to accept Seth's offer of
financial assistance to save the ranch, or to call her brother for help, what else can he
do but ask her to marry him, and support her that way?
Lynn accepts his proposal, but she's got dreams of
Prince Charming, and the demons that Seth battles within himself make him anything but!
Seth is straight with her from the start, telling
her that theirs is a marriage of convenience, but his desires for Lynn get the better of
him, and they make love on their wedding night. Lynn hopes that this is the beginning of a
caring, loving relationship, but she soon learns that she's got her work cut out for her
if she ever hopes to get past Seth's defenses.
Seth, meanwhile is fighting between what he believes
is right, and what he wants more than anything: to have Lynn for his own, building a life
with her and bringing the ranch back to its former splendor.
Will these two (who have so much in common if they'd
only see it) be able to put aside the differences that threaten to tear them apart?
Ms. Garbera gives readers insight to a very
complicated man; the inner struggles that are with him every minute. Two sides of an
issue, but both so compelling to him, he nearly misses the forest for the trees.
And Lynn's simple heart that wants nothing more than
to heel her man and make him whole again. Seth's heart is battered and bruised, and she
must bury her own doubts in order make him see that what she can offer on the Montana
Range is better than anything he ever had in Chicago.
A very quick read; this story is one that will pull
at you, hoping that this couple can finally find their own, loving place to call Home.
